Garza on ejection after 2 HBP to McCutchen: Anyone who thinks it was intentional is 'just an idiot'

In one of the night's less surprising events, Milwaukee Brewers starter Matt Garza sounded off following his ejection from Saturday's game.

Garza was tossed in the fifth inning after hitting Pittsburgh Pirates superstar Andrew McCutchen with a pitch for the second time in the game. The umpire obviously believed the second instance was intentional, and, well, Garza has some words for anyone who shares that opinion.

It's easy to understand why people would think Garza's placement was intentional, given his hot-headed nature and how frustrating the past two months have been for the Brewers. Garza also generally has solid control, having hit only 14 batters in the 615 2/3 innings before this game.

Still, if Garza is adamant it wasn't intentional, then there's little option but to believe him. After all, while the odds are long, the Brewers could still catch the Pirates, and it seems unlike the ultra-competitive Garza to sacrifice a chance at victory just to blow off some steam.

The Brewers now trail the Pirates by just 3 1/2 games for the second National League wild card after winning on Saturday.
