Resolved to accommodate the legions of fans eager to watch Derek Jeter take batting practice one last time, the New York Yankees will open their stadium gates earlier for the captain's final series in the Bronx, the team announced Saturday.
The final homestand of Jeter's career has started rather auspiciously, as the 40-year-old is 4-for-8 (.500) with a home run in two games since returning from a five-game road trip Thursday.
The Yankees will play a four-game set against the Baltimore Orioles next week before ending the campaign with a three-game series against the Boston Red Sox at Fenway Park.
