Dodgers clinch playoff berth with Brewers' loss to Pirates

Matt Marton / USA TODAY Sports

The Los Angeles Dodgers clinched a National League playoff berth with the Milwaukee Brewers' 4-2 loss to the Pittsburgh Pirates on Friday night.

The Dodgers took care of business earlier in the day to put themselves in a position to clinch, rallying behind Clayton Kershaw to rout the Chicago Cubs 14-5.

Los Angeles holds a three-game lead over the San Francisco Giants, who are in action Friday night, for the NL West lead. The Dodgers' magic number to clinch the division, which is undoubtedly their ultimate goal to avoid a wild-card game, is seven.
