Mariners' Morrison on 9th-inning blast: 'One of the biggest hits, if not the biggest hit, of my life'

If the Seattle Mariners make the postseason for the first time since 2001, they can look to Logan Morrison's ninth-inning home run on Thursday as one of biggest reasons they're playing in October.

Morrison broke a scoreless tie with his three-run, two-out blast, leading the Mariners to a 3-1 victory over the short-handed Los Angeles Angels to move within a game of Oakland for the second AL wild card.

“It was one of the biggest hits, if not the biggest hit, of my life,” Morrison told the News Tribune. “It was awesome. Words can’t describe what I’m feeling right now.”

Morrison, a veteran of 452 big-league games, has belted 51 home runs in his career but has yet to taste the playoffs in five seasons.
