Phoenix, AZ - Matt Duffy's pinch-hit single in the ninth inning lifted the San Francisco Giants to a 4-2 win over the Arizona Diamondbacks in the rubber match of a three-game series on Wednesday.

Pablo Sandoval walked to begin the ninth off Addison Reed (1-6), Brandon Crawford singled two batters later and Brandon Belt followed with a walk that loaded the bases. A pinch-hitting Duffy then lined a 3-2 pitch right back up the box that scored Sandoval and Crawford for a 4-2 advantage.

Sergio Romo (6-4) worked the eighth to earn the win prior to Santiago Casilla tossing a scoreless ninth to nail down his 17th save of the season.

Crawford delivered his second-career four-hit game -- both coming against the D-backs -- and had an RBI with two runs scored for the Giants, who have won two straight and trimmed their deficit in the NL West to two games behind Los Angeles.

Giants starter Madison Bumgarner opposed Arizona's Andrew Chafin, with each pitcher allowing two runs in six innings of work.

Bumgarner, who scattered seven hits and two walks with six strikeouts, looked to win his sixth consecutive start and tie LA's Clayton Kershaw for the major- league lead in wins.

Andrew Susac drew a two-out walk in the second and scored on Crawford's RBI double to center that gave the Giants a 1-0 lead.

With two outs in the home second, Chafin helped himself in his first major- league at-bat by getting his first career hit and RBI when he knocked in Cody Ross with a single.

San Francisco again took the lead in the fifth, but like the second inning, Arizona responded in the home half to tie the game.

Crawford singled to begin the frame and Juan Perez walked to put a pair of runners on before Bumgarner moved the runners over with a bunt. Gregor Blanco followed with a bunt of his own to push Crawford home.

A.J. Pollock, who tripled with one out, hustled home on a dropped third strike of Mark Trumbo to tie the game a 2-2 for Arizona.
