Carroll will have his start over the weekend against Tampa Bay skipped while he remains bothered by a torn fingernail, CSN Chicago's Dan Hayes reports.

Analysis:

The White Sox haven't elected to shut down Carroll, but it might make sense at this point, given that there's less than two weeks remaining in the season. Even when he was healthy enough to pitch, Carroll didn't demonstrate that he should merit a rotation spot for 2015. He's carrying a 5.01 ERA, 1.51 WHIP and a terrible 55:41 K:BB ratio over 120.1 innings.
