Dodgers' Ramirez to sit Wednesday with elbow injury

Gary A. Vasquez / USA TODAY Sports

Shortstop Hanley Ramirez will miss Wednesday's afternoon clash between the Los Angeles Dodgers and Colorado Rockies due to a right elbow strain that forced the 30-year-old to be scratched from Tuesday's lineup.

Ramirez first experienced discomfort in his elbow while making a throw during Monday's 11-3 victory over the Rockies, prompting manager Don Mattingly to remove him from Tuesday's lineup.

Ramirez boasts an .805 OPS with 13 home runs through 120 games this season, and has been particularly productive of late, hitting .432/.488/.541 with four doubles over his last 11 contests.

Justin Turner started at shortstop Tuesday night in Ramirez's absence, going 3-for-4 with a pair of doubles in his team's 10-4 loss. Miguel Rojas, however, will start Wednesday's series finale at Coors Field.
