Braves 'really don't know' when Gattis will return from strep throat

Atlanta Braves catcher Evan Gattis is set to miss his eighth straight game on Tuesday as he battles strep throat and manager Fredi Gonzalez isn't entirely certain when he'll return.

“I really don’t know,” Gonzalez told the Atlanta Journal-Constitution. “We will let the doctors and people who are looking at him decide when, where. But hopefully (it’s) soon.”

Gattis, who began feeling ill on Sept. 7, plans to see doctors to determine why he still has symptoms.

The Braves' free-fall in the standings coincides with the 28-year-old's absence from the lineup, as they've gone 1-6 over the last week and find themselves 4.5 games back of the second wild card.
