Rockies' Morneau returns to lineup Monday after missing 2 games with soreness

Chris Humphreys / USA TODAY Sports

Colorado Rockies first baseman Justin Morneau resumes his quest for the National League batting title Monday as he makes a return to the lineup after sitting out the last two games.

Morneau departed Friday's game with soreness in his left side but Rockies trainer Keith Dugger downplayed the injury on the weekend, saying it wasn't anything serious.

The 33-year-old, who has enjoyed a move to hitter friendly Coors Field this season, owns a .315 average and trails Pittsburgh Pirates outfielder Josh Harrison by just .002 points.
