Rangers' Rios to miss 8th straight game with thumb injury

Adam Hunger / USA TODAY Sports

Texas Rangers outfielder Alex Rios will be held out of the lineup for an eighth straight game on Saturday with a thumb injury and it remains unclear if the 33-year-old will play again this season.

“I don’t know. That’s a tough call,” Rios told Adam Crouch of CBS Dallas/Fort Worth. “Depending on how I feel, I will make a decision on that issue.”

Rios was expected to miss at least a week after he was diagnosed with an infection in his right thumb on Sept. 5.

It's been a down season for Rios at the plate, as he's struggled to hit the ball for any power. In 131 games, the 11-year veteran has a career-low four home runs while slugging .398.
