Miami Marlins (71-75) at Philadelphia Phillies (68-79), 7:05 p.m. (ET)

(SportsNetwork.com) - The Miami Marlins hope to avoid a fourth straight loss on Saturday evening when they continue a three-game series with the Philadelphia Phillies.

The Phillies picked up a walk-off 3-1 win over the Marlins in last night's opener on Cody Asche's two-run homer in the bottom of the 10th inning.

Ben Revere poked a one-out single to center off Dan Jennings and Asche followed by smashing a hanging slider over the out-of-town scoreboard in right to help the Phillies snap a two-game skid.

"I've been waiting my whole life to do something like that," said Asche. "That's one of the cooler feelings on the baseball field for sure."

Jake Diekman earned the win after pitching a scoreless 10th. The Phillies bullpen of Ken Giles, Jonathan Papelbon and Diekman did not allow a baserunner over three innings in relief of starter Cole Hamels.

"Overall a good baseball game," said Phillies manager Ryne Sandberg. "Cody with a tremendous swing. Cole was solid for seven innings. The bullpen was outstanding."

The Marlins were playing without slugger Giancarlo Stanton, who suffered facial lacerations after getting hit in the face with a pitch by Mike Fiers in Thursday's loss to the Brewers.

Miami said that Stanton returned home to Florida on Friday and is feeling better, but without its slugger the club fell 6 1/2 games back of a wild card spot.

"We had some chances to add some runs on early," said Marlins manager Mike Redmond. "That ended up for me being the difference."

Getting the call tonight for the Marlins will be Brad Hand, who is coming off his first victory since July 25.

Hand had gone 0-4 over seven appearances before beating Atlanta on Sunday. He hurled six scoreless innings of five-hit ball, striking out three without a walk. The left-hander set the tone early by retiring the first 11 batters faced.

"I was just trying to throw early strikes, get early contact," Hand said. "I was trying to get ahead in the count and pitch to contact."

Hand is 3-6 with a save and 4.45 earned run average in 29 games (13 starts) this year and 1-1 lifetime versus the Phillies with a 4.50 ERA in five games, including three starts.

Kyle Kendrick hopes to find his way back into the win column for the Phillies and is 8-12 on the year with a 4.83 ERA.

Kendrick threw seven scoreless innings to beat Atlanta on Sept. 2 tow in his third straight start, but then suffered his first loss since July 30 with a 6-4 decision to Pittsburgh on Monday. The 30-year-old righty gave up five runs over seven-plus innings, striking out eight.

Kendrick has solid career numbers against the Marlins, going 12-3 with a 3.69 ERA in 24 games (19 starts).

Philadelphia has won six of eight at home this season versus the Marlins.
