Brewers' Braun not in lineup Tuesday vs. Marlins with thumb injury

The reeling Milwaukee Brewers will attempt to stop their plummet in the standings Tuesday without one of their biggest sluggers.

Braun has been battling lingering pain in his right thumb since early August, limiting the former MVP at the plate over the last month. In his last 30 games, the right-fielder is hitting .224/.268/.362 with four home runs, 13 RBI and 30 strikeouts in 116 at-bats.
The Brewers dropped the first of a four-game set with the Marlins on Monday, their 12th loss in their last 13 games.
