VIDEO: Adam Dunn homers in 1st at-bat with Oakland

The Oakland Athletics acquired Adam Dunn in an effort to jump-start their struggling offense. They probably weren't expecting his impact to be so immediate.

Dunn wasted no time settling into his new digs, launching a 1-1 pitch off Seattle right-hander Chris Young just over the fence in right to stake his club to a 2-0 lead during a five-run first inning. He's the 12th player in franchise history to homer in his first at-bat with the team.

Dunn went 2-for-3 with a run scored for the A's, who won for the first time in five tries after a demoralizing four-game sweep at the hands of the Los Angeles Angels.

"That's the most excited, anxious, probably call it a little nervous, than I've been in a long time," said Dunn, who was acquired from the Chicago White Sox in a two-player trade Sunday.

It was the 461st home run of Dunn's career, tying him with Boston Red Sox slugger David Ortiz for 35th on the all-time leaderboard.

The 6-1 victory extended the Athletics' wild-card lead to four games.
