Tigers' Price on Wednesday's outing: 'Probably the worst game I've ever had in my life'

Rick Osentoski / USA TODAY Sports

The habitually dominant David Price appeared overwhelmingly human on Wednesday for the Detroit Tigers.

Price was pulled in the third inning after allowing nine consecutive hits to the New York Yankees before recording an out. His final line: 12 hits, eight earned runs, one walk and three strikeouts in two innings of work.

The outing was the second-shortest in the seven-year veteran's career, as Price moved to 1-2 since being acquired from the Tampa Bay Rays at the non-waiver deadline.

Despite the poor outing, the former Cy Young winner remains optimistic.

With the loss, Detroit sits 2 1/2-games behind the Kansas City Royals in the division and a 1/2-game behind the Seattle Mariners for the second Wild Card position.
