Cleveland Indians shortstop Asdrubal Cabrera remains a trade target for clubs looking to bolster their infield ahead of Thursday's non-waiver deadline.

Two of those teams reportedly include the Toronto Blue Jays and Washington Nationals, according to Fox Sports' Ken Rosenthal.

Rosenthal, however, followed up by noting the Blue Jays are not expected to add a hitter.

The slick-fielding shortstop is performing below career norms across the board offensively this year and has struggled in the field as well. Cabrera's hitting line sits at .246/.305/.386 with an elevated 19 percent strikeout rate. He's currently on pace to hit his fewest home runs since 2010.

Despite his struggles, the 28-year-old is a free agent at the end of the season and would arguably improve either club's infield.

Injuries to the Nationals' Ryan Zimmerman has forced Anthony Rendon to the hot corner, leaving Washington with underwhelming options like Danny Espinosa and Kevin Frandsen to man second base.

The Blue Jays experienced a similar fate after Brett Lawrie fractured his finger and left the team exposed at both positions with a combination of platoon players and Triple-A callups.

Toronto addressed its issues in part by trading for infielder Danny Valencia from the Kansas City Royals, but his poor splits against right-handers leaves room for the addition of the switch-hitting Cabrera to plug a hole up the middle.
