The Toronto Blue Jays removed former first-round pick Deck McGuire from the 40-man roster last week to accommodate waiver-claim Brad Mills, who was picked up from the Oakland Athletics.

In a weird baseball circle, the A's acquired McGuire from the Blue Jays on Friday in exchange for cash considerations.

McGuire will be optioned to Triple-A Sacramento. Selected 11th overall in 2010, the right-hander posted a 4.21 ERA with a 1.34 WHIP over 20 starts between Double-A and Triple-A this season.
