The Seattle Mariners are interested in acquiring Miami Marlins third baseman Casey McGehee, reports CBS Sports' Jon Heyman.

Heyman believes the Mariners are in the market for a right-handed bat, and the surging McGehee certainly fits the bill.

The 31-year-old is hitting an impressive .321 with 56 RBIs through 98 games and is a bargain with his one-year, $1.1 million deal. He doesn't hit for power, however, swatting just two home runs this season.

Seattle already boasts an All-Star at the hot corner in Kyle Seager, so McGehee would likely serve as the designated hitter except when Seager requires a day off.

The Mariners are also rumored to be interested in outfielders Alex Rios, Josh Willingham and Marlon Byrd.
