Mauer (oblique) took a few groundballs and played soft toss Saturday, the Minneapolis Star Tribune reports. "At least he's [doing] baseball activity," general manager Terry Ryan said. "Let's wait and see what he comes in feeling like tomorrow. Maybe he'll be able to swing pretty soon."
Analysis:
It's a good sign that Mauer is starting to do some activity, but he said that he still feels soreness in his oblique when he sneezes or coughs. He's still likely several weeks away from returning since he'll need a rehab stint.
