Tigers' Chamberlain leave Sunday's game with a right ankle contusion

Detroit Tigers right-hander Joba Chamberlain left Sunday's game with a right ankle contusion and is considered day-to-day.

Analysis:

Chamberlain appeared to suffer the injury while attempting to cover first base in the eighth inning. After walking off the injury, he took the mound for a few warmup pitches before deciding to exit early and receive further treatment in the clubhouse. For now, the Tigers don't believe Chamberlain will require a trip to the disabed list, but the contusion could keep him unavailable for the next few games. He's been sturdy in middle relief for the Tigers this season, posting a 3.10 ERA and striking out 25 batters in 20.1 innings.
