Tracy McGrady on Skeeters spring training: 'Trying to get my baseball swag down'

Derick E. Hingle / USA Today Sports

Tracy McGrady was present at media day for the Sugar Land Skeeters on Tuesday, and while he may not yet be impressing on the mound, he can probably boast owning quote of the day.

Trying to get his baseball swag down. Respect.

Per a series of tweets from Mark Berman of Fox Houston, manager Gary Maetti has this to say of McGrady in camp:

Like any other pitcher, he's going to have to throw strikes and get people out. A lot of this is because of who he is. I want to give Tracy the opportunity to fulfill a dream that he has. He's a special individual in this setting. Independent minor league baseball allows us to give a guy like that an opportunity. If you could see with the naked eye that he can't do it, that's different, but that's not the case.

McGrady doesn't have long to prove his worth, as the Skeeters open their season on April 24.
