Joba Chamberlain wants fans to choose his 2014 facial hair
We can't confirm that Joba Chamberlain actually threw his razor in the trash when he left the facial hair-banning New York Yankees behind, but the unrestrictive nature of his new team is affording the pitcher a new look.
“Look at this thing. It’s flush. It’s nice,” said Chamberlain of his beard to Intentional Talk's Kevin Millar and Chris Rose.
(Reminder: In the Bronx, no player, coach or executive may wear any facial hair except for a mustache... No wonder they couldn't compete with the Red Sox.)
The new Tiger is in all-out beard mode in Lakeland, and he's willing to let fans decide how he should open 2014 in Detroit against the Royals.
In his interview with Millar and Rose -- he was wearing a green, glittery mask in his car, by the way -- Chamberlain opened up the poll for fans to decide via Twitter on #JobaStache, #JobaGoatee, #JobaBeard, #JobaClean, or the unmentioned #JobaHandlebar.
The 28-year-old said he'll appear on the program the day before Opening Day to reveal the results.
