Wood posted a respectable 3.57 ERA in 10 starts since the All-Star break, but the Braves feel they have enough reliable starters, and want to give themselves another left-handed option out of the playoffs during the postseason. Though Wood figures to pitch in relief the rest of the way, he has put himself in position to contend for a spot in next year's rotation during spring training.
