Report: CC Sabathia plans to pitch in 2018

It appears as if CC Sabathia isn't quite ready to call it a career just yet.

After the 37-year-old hurled 5 2/3 innings of scoreless ball Saturday against the Toronto Blue Jays, the southpaw plans to pitch in 2018, Jon Morosi of MLB Network reports.

Although there was speculation after his start that it was his last with the Yankees, Sabathia could see action in the postseason if New York advances past Tuesday's American League wild-card game against the Minnesota Twins.

The veteran posted his highest win total (14) since 2013 and his lowest ERA since 2012 this season, while also making 27 starts for the Bronx Bombers.

New York is reportedly interested in re-signing Sabathia - whose contract expires at the end of the season - to a one-year deal in the $8-million-$10-million range, according to Jon Heyman of FanRag Sports.

Sabathia explained Saturday during a postgame interview that he'd love to return to New York to play under manager Joe Girardi next season.

"I’ve been playing for him for a long time now,” Sabathia said. "I love it here. I love him and everything about the organization."

Over his career, Sabathia - the active strikeout leader with 2,846 - owns a 237-146 record across 509 starts including a 3.70 ERA and 1.25 WHIP.

He also won the Cy Young in 2007 with the Cleveland Indians.
