Cardinals holding 'Rally Cat Appreciation Day' in September

They're feline pretty good in St. Louis these days.

The red-hot Cardinals have ripped off an 8-2 run over their last 10 games, and while the players have obviously done their part, much of the credit for their success is being given to "Rally Cat," the now-infamous kitten whose journey onto the field at Busch Stadium happened moments before Yadier Molina's go-ahead grand slam on Wednesday.

Now "Rally Cat" is about to get his true moment in the sun, as the Cardinals announced Saturday that they will be holding "Rally Cat Appreciation Day" when they host the Pittsburgh Pirates on Sept. 10.

According to the team's press release, portions of all "Rally Cat Appreciation Day" ticket sales will be donated to the Animal Rescue Foundation (ARF) operated by legendary Cardinals manager Tony La Russa, as well as the St. Louis Feral Cat Outreach (SLFCO). Fans can also pick up a special "Rally Cat" T-shirt as part of the day's events.

"Rally Cat" was briefly lost after he was removed from the playing field on Wednesday, when he escaped from a fan that claimed the cat was hers outside the stadium. On Friday, the SLFCO announced they had found a kitten thought to be "Rally Cat", and the Cardinals confirmed Saturday that "Rally Cat" had not only been rescued, but is apparently in good spirits and health.

According to KWWL News 7, "Rally Cat" will be available for adoption in two weeks.
