Blue Jays' Gibbons: Donaldson could see more time at SS

It would appear Josh Donaldson's audition at shortstop went well enough for the former MVP to get another shot at the position.

After Donaldson shifted over from the hot corner - his usual spot on the field -for Sunday's game, Toronto Blue Jays manager John Gibbons said the veteran could get some additional starts at shortstop.

"Not a lot of plays, but I thought they (Donaldson and Jose Bautista, who also played out of position at third base) looked pretty good out there, kind of natural," Gibbons said, according to Gregor Chisholm of MLB.com.

"We'll see. You may see them out there together again."

Bautista made only his second start of the year at third base, but does have plenty of experience at the position with just under 350 games started there.

Donaldson, who began his career as a backstop, became the first former catcher to start a game at shortstop since Ron Brand of the Montreal Expos in 1971. The 31-year-old Donaldson also made eight starts behind the plate with Oakland from 2010-2012.
