Mets' Syndergaard still 4 weeks away from throwing

The mighty Thor isn't quite ready to lift his trusty hammer.

New York Mets ace right-hander Noah Syndergaard, who has been out since early May with a lat injury, was initially set to be shut down for at least six weeks. According to MLB.com's Anthony DiComo, the team is saying they don't expect him to start throwing for another four weeks.

DiComo added that Syndergaard's lat has not healed sufficiently enough to begin a throwing program.

With Matt Harvey set to miss a number of weeks, and plenty of position players likewise on the mend, Syndergaard's update is just another piece of bad news to add to an already long list.

Four weeks would roughly indicate that Syndergaard could start throwing around the All-Star break. With the update, it's unlikely Syndergaard returns to the Mets' rotation until late August, if not later.
