Athletics' Andrew Triggs: Stymies Astros over seven scoreless frames
Triggs (4-1) allowed five hits over seven scoreless innings while striking out nine batters during Saturday's win over Houston.
Analysis:
The USC product had allowed six runs to the Mariners in his previous outing, so this was an impressive bounce-back showing. Triggs' uptick in strikeouts was also a nice bonus, as he had just 13 punchouts through 22.1 innings over his first four starts of the season. Now sporting a 1.84 ERA, 0.92 WHIP and 2.86 FIP, Triggs is creeping toward matchup-proof territory. He projects to face the Tigers -- another tough opponent -- in his next start.
