Nationals' Jacob Turner: Will remain in bullpen for now

Turner will remain with the Nationals and pitch out of the bullpen even after Stephen Strasburg's activation from the paternity list, Chelsea Janes of The Washington Post reports.

Analysis:

The team would've needed to expose him to waivers to send Turner back to Triple-A, but the fact that the Nats didn't have a long man in the 'pen may have also played a factor in the decision to keep him around. The 25-year-old was solid Monday in his first start of the season, allowing three runs with a 6:0 K:BB over six innings at Coors Field, and if Joe Ross struggles as the fifth starter or injuries crop up, Turner could get another look in the rotation down the road.
