White Sox's Leury Garcia: Solidifying hold on center field
Garcia went 1-for-3 with his second home run of of the season in Wednesday's 5-2 win over the Royals.
Analysis:
Garcia extended his hitting streak to four games, a stretch in which he's gone 8-for-15 with two extra-base hits and four RBI. Jacob May's struggles at the plate opened the door for Garcia, who has started the last five games, to take over in center field, at least until Charlie Tilson returns. There's nothing during Garcia's previous major-league experience to suggest he can maintain this level of production -- however, he's looking like a different hitter in 2017. In parts of four seasons in the majors from 2013-16, Garcia had struck out in 30.8 percent of his plate appearances but has reduced that to 8.2 percent this year.
