Houston Astros second baseman Jose Altuve and right fielder Teoscar Hernandez were involved in a scary collision Tuesday, resulting in both players leaving the game in the eighth inning.

Unfortunately for Hernandez, it was the outfielder's first major-league appearance of 2017 as he was called up prior to the game.

The youngster was carted off while Altuve exited the game under his own power. The players were replaced by George Springer - who was kept out of Tuesday's lineup with a hamstring injury - and Marwin Gonzalez.

On the play, Altuve's leg appears to come into contact with Hernandez's left knee, resulting in an awkward bend. Both players appeared distraught, though it's somewhat promising Altuve was able to leave the field without any help from trainers.

Following the game, Altuve passed all concussion tests. Hernandez, meanwhile, was diagnosed with a left knee contusion.

"I'm a little sore, but I'm feeling better," Altuve said, according to the Associated Press. "I think we still have to wait until tomorrow, but I have a good chance to play."

The Astros led the Cleveland Indians 4-1 at the time of the collision and went on to a 4-2 victory .
