Giants call up prospect Arroyo, will debut Monday

In an attempt to spark the team after a dreadful start to the season, it appears the San Francisco Giants have called up one of their best prospects.

Christian Arroyo, ranked as the Giants' second best prospect and 84th on MLB.com's top 100, has been promoted by the team and will make his debut Monday against the Los Angeles Dodgers.

The 21-year-old is batting sixth and will start at third base.

Arroyo's versatility makes him an intriguing fit, especially since the Giants have started the season ranked in the bottom-10 in various offensive categories. He's capable of playing multiple positions, with experience at third base, shortstop, and second base.

He was drafted 25th overall by the Giants in 2013 and has climbed steadily through the system. He was playing terrific in Triple-A, hitting .446/.478/.692 with three home runs and 12 RBIs in 16 games.

Along with Arroyo, the Giants purchased the contract of outfielder Drew Stubbs, who will start in center field.
