You know it's a day when offense trumps all when the pitcher hits a triple.
With the Chicago Cubs already leading 7-5 against the Cincinnati Reds in the fifth inning, Cubs starter Jake Arrieta knocked a one-out triple to opposite field, cashing in an insurance run. With Arrieta himself laboring through his start, a greater run cushion was paramount.
