In a matinee slugfest between the Chicago Cubs and Cincinnati Reds, none other than Gold Glove right fielder Jason Heyward provided the first great defensive play.

In a 7-5 contest in just the bottom of the third inning, Zack Cozart was at the plate against the struggling Jake Arrieta with Eugenio Suarez waiting at first base. Cozart popped the pitch into play for what looked like an easy single to shallow right field, when Heyward made the spectacular catch and doubled-up Suarez, who was caught in no-man's-land.

According to Baseball Savant founder and Statcast wizard Daren Willman, that catch is made just 58 percent of the time, with Heyward covering 72 feet to rob Cozart before delivering the strong 123-foot throw to Anthony Rizzo to complete the double play.
