In Texas, good things come to those who wait, apparently.

After three hours and 47 minutes of scoreless baseball at Globe Life Park on Thursday night, Delino DeShields Jr. sent the folks home happy by stroking a one-out single off Travis Wood in the bottom of the 13th inning that allowed Joey Gallo to gallop home from second and nudged the Texas Rangers to a 1-0 walk-off victory over the Kansas City Royals.

"That at-bat - it was a 10-pitch at-bat - I was locked in," DeShields said. "I was just ready for everything. Everything that he threw me. I have been having good at-bats up until this point. I know it hasn't really showed, but I've been working. I've been working. I've been busting my butt. And to finally see the hard work pay off was awesome."
