The Chicago Cubs can make all the thinly veiled accusations they want about Eric Thames. The dude is going to keep hitting home runs, regardless.
Thames - the repatriated 30-year-old tearing up the league right now following a bananas three-year stint in Korea - was at it again Thursday, giving his Milwaukee Brewers a fifth-inning edge over the St. Louis Cardinals with an opposite-field, two-run blast off Carlos Martinez for his MLB-leading eighth home run of the 2017 campaign.
If you're keeping score at home, Thames now has more homers this season than Kris Bryant, Paul Goldschmidt, and Edwin Encarnacion combined, not to mention the entire Boston Red Sox roster.
"There was one day I had to turn off my phone because it was getting blown up," Thames told MLB.com's Adam McCalvy of his newfound fame. "But I'm not getting too carried away."
