Mike Trout is going to need a bigger trophy case.
While no baseball fan is ignorant of Trout's greatness by now, his early-career resume is quite remarkable.
Prior to Saturday night's game between Trout's Los Angeles Angels and the visiting Seattle Mariners, he was awarded with his second MVP trophy.
With the MVP win, he is the third youngest in MLB history to receive the honor twice. Johnny Bench won his second award with the Cincinnati Reds in 1972 and Hal Newhouser did it in 1945 with the Detroit Tigers.
Neither Bench nor Newhouser won a third MVP and neither accumulated as many runner-up nods as Trout has already tallied. Between the two of them, only Newhouser finished second in MVP voting once. Trout has already done that three times.
