Trout named MLB's most marketable player over Harper, Bryant

In case anyone needed a friendly reminder about how many young stars make up the game of baseball, a survey conducted by sports business execs, analysts, and the media has ranked the league's most marketable players, according to John Bauernfeind, Thomas Leary, and Preston Bounds of Sports Business Daily.

To no one's surprise, a certain Los Angeles Angels superstar tops the list:

Rank Player Age Team Total Votes
1 Mike Trout 25 Angels 152
2 Bryce Harper 24 Nationals 135
3 Kris Bryant 25 Cubs 119
4 Clayton Kershaw 29 Dodgers 51
5 Anthony Rizzo 27 Cubs 21
6 Mookie Betts 24 Red Sox 20
7T Buster Posey 30 Giants 18
7T Noah Syndergaard 24 Mets 18
9 Giancarlo Stanton 27 Marlins 16
10 Corey Seager 22 Dodgers 7
11 Manny Machado 24 Orioles 6
12T Chris Archer 28 Rays 5
12T Andrew McCutchen 30 Pirates 5
14T Nolan Arenado 25 Rockies 4
14T Robinson Cano 34 Mariners 4
14T Francisco Lindor 23 Indians 4
14T Justin Verlander 34 Tigers 4

Trout reigning supreme isn't surprising considering how dominant he's been as the game's most complete player and two-time MVP at only 25 years old.

A few surprising omissions are Houston Astros stars Jose Altuve and Carlos Correa as well as San Francisco Giants ace Madison Bumgarner.

The average age of the 17 players to receive votes is 26.7, which shows the abundance of young stars that have cemented themselves as the collective face of baseball.
