Red Sox's Rick Porcello: Picks up Opening Day win
Porcello (1-0) pitched 6.1 innings, allowing three runs on six hits and one walk while striking out five in Monday's Opening Day victory over the Pirates.
Analysis:
Last season's AL Cy Young Award winner opened the 2017 campaign looking the part with six scoreless frames before getting into hot water. He was tagged for three runs in the seventh, but Porcello never threw more than 34 pitches in any of his spring outings, so it's likely that he just ran out of gas in Monday's 90-pitch outing. The Red Sox ace will make his next start Saturday in Detroit.
