The bottom-dwelling Toronto Blue Jays picked up a much-needed extra-innings win on Friday against the Los Angeles Angels, but the victory appeared to come at a cost.

Shortstop Troy Tulowitzki was removed from the game in the top of the eighth inning with hamstring tightness after sliding into third base. He appeared to be in discomfort after the play, and immediately headed to the Blue Jays' clubhouse with the help of trainers. The move was considered precautionary, and the 32-year-old veteran is day to day.

"I definitely wasn't in a position right there to help us, if I had to tag up or score (from third)," Tulowitzki said, according to Austin Laymance of MLB.com. "I knew I needed to get out before I further injured myself. I'm sore. I'll come to the locker room (Saturday) and talk to the trainers, see what they say, and we'll decide where we go from there."

Although he's dealt with a barrage of injuries throughout his career, hamstring discomfort is new for Tulowitzki.

"First time, so I don't really know what to expect," he said. "Nothing to gauge it off of here. I'm not sure (about the disabled list). See when I wake up if it's sore and how I'm doing walking. It's definitely sore."

The Blue Jays can't afford to lose yet another key member of their team, as the group is already without Josh Donaldson (calf), Aaron Sanchez (finger), and J.A. Happ (elbow), who are all currently sidelined without firm timetables.

After Friday's game, Tulowitzki is hitting .263/.295/.386 with four doubles and a team-leading 10 RBIs.
