Kershaw to earn more in 2017 than Padres' active Opening Day roster

Matt Kartozian / USA TODAY Sports

Entering the fourth season of the monstrous seven-year, $215-million contract he signed with the Los Angeles Dodgers in 2014, Clayton Kershaw will earn a $33-million salary in 2017, the highest annual rate in all of baseball.

Kershaw's salary is so high, in fact, that the Dodgers starter will earn more than every active player on the San Diego Padres' Opening Day roster combined, according to the San Diego Union-Tribune's Jeff Sanders.
