Mets' Jeurys Familia: Suspended 15 games

Familia has been suspended 15 games for violating baseball's domestic-violence policy, FOX Sports' Ken Rosenthal reports.

Analysis:

This means he will first be available on April 20 at home against the Phillies, while Addison Reed is expected to handle the closer duties for the first 15 games of the season. Familia has logged 4.2 innings this spring and also participated in the World Baseball Classic, so he should be ready to assume his ninth-inning role as soon as the suspension is lifted. He will forfeit 18 days of pay, including off-days, resulting in a loss of more than $700,000.
