White Sox's Anthony Swarzak: Has a shot at roster spot

Swarzak has pitched well enough to earn a roster post as a long reliever to start the season for the White Sox, Daryl Van Schouwen of the Chicago Sun-Times reports.

Analysis:

Swarzak's a fastball-slider pitcher who has some experience as a starter. Legend has it that he hit 97 mph on the gun last week, but he's mostly been a 93-94 velocity pitcher. The White Sox will use the right-hander in multi-inning situations. Swarzak, who has struck out 12 and walked two over nine spring innings, is a non-roster invitee and will need to be added to the 40-man roster.
