Royals' Joakim Soria: Faring well in Cactus League play

Soria has compiled a 2.70 ERA and is holding batters to a .200 average over 6.2 innings this spring.

Analysis:

Soria was away from the team earlier in March while pitching for Mexico in the World Baseball Classic, but he'll likely get in another outing or two during Cactus League play before Opening Day arrives. The 32-year-old is expected to assume a key role in the bridge to closer Kelvin Herrera this season, though it's possible that Soria could be displaced by top prospect Matt Strahm for primary setup duties if manager Ned Yost prioritizes the more dynamic arm over experience in the eighth inning.
