Padres' Jabari Blash: Continues torrid spring Sunday

Blash went 3-for-4 with a double and a grand slam in Sunday's split-squad win over the Cubs.

Analysis:

Sunday's homer brought the slugger's total up to six, good enough for second among all major league clubs this spring. Initially thought to land in the minors, Blash's power surge coupled with Alex Dickerson's (back) injury may force the Padres to open up a spot on the 25-man roster for him to begin the season. An Opening Day outfield of Travis Jankowski, Manuel Margot and Hunter Renfroe appears to be set, but the slugger could serve as the club's fourth outfield option and a potential platoon mate with the left-handed Jankowski.
