Dodgers' Pedro Baez: Opening Day status bleak

Baez (thumb) will face hitters Monday but is unlikely to be ready for Opening Day, Ken Gurnick of MLB.com reports.

Analysis:

The Dodgers continue to take a very cautious approach as Baez rehabs his injured thumb. Manager Dave Roberts said that they'd like to see the reliever throw multiple innings before playing in a regular-season game. Based on this requirement, it appears more likely than not that Baez will not be ready when Opening Day rolls around and may begin the season on the disabled list.
