Diamondbacks' Archie Bradley: Open to bullpen role
Bradley said Wednesday that he'd welcome a bullpen assignment with the major league club if he misses out on a rotation spot, Nick Piecoro of the Arizona Republic reports. "With the way I'm throwing the baseball right now, the way I feel, the way the ball is coming out, I'm comfortable in any role, in any capacity," Bradley said. "Just put me on this team."
Analysis:
After giving up a whopping 13 runs on 23 hits in his first 14.2 spring innings, Bradley was relegated to the back fields for his most recent outing. He allowed just one hit in five innings on the minor league side, but it may be too little, too late for Bradley. According to the report, Zack Greinke, Taijuan Walker, Robbie Ray, Shelby Miller and Patrick Corbin are "seemingly" in line to open the season in the rotation. The Diamondbacks are believed to be considering a relief role for Bradley, but the right-hander does have another option remaining, so the team could opt to keep him stretched out as a starter at Triple-A for the time being.
