Watch: Jones' RBI groundout advances U.S. to final

Who else?

Baltimore Orioles center fielder Adam Jones has been the hero for the United States on a couple of occasions already in the World Baseball Classic, but his biggest moment of the competition may be an RBI groundout down the third-base line.

In the eighth inning of Tuesday's semifinal against Japan, Jones connected on a weak dribbler to third baseman Nobuhiro Matsuda that might not have amounted to much on a regular day. But thanks to wet conditions at Dodger Stadium, Matsuda bobbled the easy play, allowing Brandon Crawford to sprint home from third and give the U.S. a late lead.

The run proved to be the difference between the two heavyweights, as the U.S. held on to win the encounter 2-1, booking a date with Puerto Rico in the final Wednesday.
