Sale continues dominant spring with 10-strikeout performance

While the health of David Price continues to occupy the minds of many in Boston Red Sox camp, the early dominance from Chris Sale should provide some optimism with Opening Day less than two weeks away.

Sale was back on the mound Tuesday for his fourth start of the spring and was exceptional in six innings against the New York Yankees. The left-hander allowed two runs off four hits and no walks while striking out 10 of the 23 batters he faced.

"You guys saw. I felt good," Sale said following his outing, according to Tim Britton of the Providence Journal.

After five shutout innings, Sale got taken deep by Matt Holliday in the sixth for a two-run homer - the first round-tripper he's surrendered in 16 innings this spring.

Sale lowered his ERA to 3.38 following the outing and has struck out 20 batters this month while walking just one.

With Rick Porcello getting the Opening Day nod and Price to begin the season on the disabled list, Sale is expected to make his regular-season debut April 5 against the Pittsburgh Pirates.
