Marlins' Dan Straily: Strikes out six Saturday
Straily allowed one run on three hits while striking out six over five innings in Saturday's Grapefruit League game against the Tigers.
Analysis:
He fired 64 pitches and rose to the challenge of being matched up against Justin Verlander, as Straily made his first Grapefruit League appearance since Mar. 2. He'd been getting his work in during minor league games through the early part of the spring schedule, but the 28-year-old righty should take his final couple of turns prior to Opening Day with the major league squad. Straily is coming off a career-best season, but even with a friendlier pitcher's home park in Miami, the former Red could be hard-pressed to match his 2016 numbers.
