Royals' Eric Hosmer: Goes deep to notch win in WBC
Hosmer launched a game-winning, two-run home run in the eighth inning during Team USA's World Baseball Classic win over Venezuela.
Analysis:
After San Diego's thick-aired marine layer cost him a tater earlier in the game, the Royals' first baseman connected on a shot that cleared the right-center-field fence. The impending free agent looks set to at least come close to matching his 25 home runs from 2016, but he'll need to reverse the two-year increase that gave him a 58.9 groundball percentage. Of course, that big-fly total was the six-year veteran's best, and if the 27-year-old takes to the air more, he'll offset the downside.
